You can search the database for the desired component using the Component Search dialog box.

Basic RLC components do not appear in the search results. They must be placed directly from the Select a Component dialog box. Once they have been placed, they can be further configured on the workspace. Refer to the Placing RLC Components topic for details.

Complete the following steps to search the database:

  1. Select Place»Component.

The Select a Component dialog box displays.

  2. Click Search.

The Component Search dialog box appears.

  3. Enter your search criteria in the desired text fields.

Enter text and/or numbers. Case is not considered.

Refer to the Component Search section for more information.

For a broader search, use the * wildcard to replace any number of characters and the ? wildcard to replace a single character. Note that the quote character () is not a wildcard. Entering this will actually search for the specific () character.

  4. Click Search.

The Search Results dialog box appears with a list of all components that match the entered search criteria.

  5. Choose a component in the Components list.

    The displayed information changes accordingly.

  6. Select the desired component and click OK.

The Select a Component dialog box displays with the component selected.

  7. Click OK to place the component.

Complete the following steps to narrow your search if there are too many matches:

  1. Click Modify search from the Search Results dialog box.

The Component Search dialog box re-appears.

The search parameters remain in the Component Search dialog until a component is placed.

  2. Modify the search parameters and click Search.
