Complete the following steps to merge two buses together that have bus lines attached to them:
If you are merging two buses that do not have attached bus entries or assigned bus lines, refer to the Merging Unconnected Buses section for instructions.
- Highlight the two buses and select Edit»Merge selected buses to display the Merge Buses dialog box.
- Select the desired bus in the Keep names from drop-down list. The bus line names from the selected bus will be kept after the merge.
- Select one of the following radio buttons:
- Rename bus lines to keep all existing bus lines and nets separate —Any bus lines in the "second" bus that have the same name as any of the "first" bus lines will be renamed. The end result will have as many unique bus lines and as many unique nets as the original two buses did.
- Rename bus lines only to prevent merging nets—Any bus lines in the "second" bus that have the same name as any of the "first" bus lines will be renamed if, and only if, the result of not renaming them would be nets merging. The resulting bus will have as many unique nets as the original buses did, but may have fewer unique bus lines.
- Do not rename bus lines. Nets on matching bus lines will be merged—The Example box changes to reflect this choice.
- Manually rename bus lines for merging—Displays the Manual Bus Merge dialog box.
- If you selected one of the first three radio buttons in the above step, click OK to close the Merge Buses dialog box and make the selected changes.
Or
If you selected the fourth radio button in the above step, refer to the Manual Bus Merging section for instructions.
You can also merge buses by wiring them together or by renaming one bus with the name of another existing bus.
