Digilent and NI Educational Tools

Students in a training lab

At NI, we understand challenges educators face in making theoretical knowledge practical. In response, we’ve teamed up with our sister brand, Digilent, to create a unified academic product portfolio. Digilent’s mission—to make engineering technologies both understandable and accessible—aligns with NI’s dedication to education. Starting with Digilent’s hardware solutions, educators can directly demonstrate and ground key engineering concepts. NI’s advanced software solutions further develop students’ problem-solving capabilities, preparing them for the rigors of industry and research.

Single-Seat Software Licenses

Students in a training lab

NI offers affordable single-seat software licenses tailored for academic teaching and research. Eligible users must be affiliated with an academic institution, use the software exclusively for teaching or research purposes, and agree to the academic software agreement. The licenses include LabVIEW, FlexLogger, DIAdem, VeriStand, and more, and cannot be used for commercial purposes.

Engage, Experiment, Excel: Hands-On Learning for Future Engineers

NI brings engineering education to life with a hardware-first approach that puts real instruments in every student’s backpack. Digilent Analog Discovery turns a single device into a complete lab—oscilloscope, waveform generator, logic analyzer, and more—so students can experiment anywhere, not just in scheduled lab time. Immediate, visual feedback connects theory to reality, boosting engagement and confidence. Professional-grade accuracy ensures reliable results for projects and research. Flexible software options—Digilent WaveForms, NI Multisim, NI FlexLogger™ software, NI LabVIEW, MathWorks® MATLAB® software, and Python—fit any teaching style without lock-in. The Academic Volume License and global support keep costs low and labs running smoothly. The result: faster setup, fewer bottlenecks, and graduates ready for industry.

We balance theory with practice, using LabVIEW and data acquisition as the heart of our class. This approach gives students the freedom to create, troubleshoot, and innovate—skills that employers value in open-ended design projects.
