Overview

The Vehicle Communication Toolkit (Full), powered by AKKA, is a software add-on that allows you to monitor, send, and receive signals to a DUT. The Vehicle Communication Toolkit (Full) provides a LabVIEW API compatible with Windows and NI Linux Real-Time operating systems, a C/C++ API compatible with Windows, and a custom device for use with VeriStand. You can use the Vehicle Communication Toolkit (Full) with communication database files, such as AUTOSAR XML, to send and receive CAN, LIN, FlexRay, or automotive Ethernet signals to and from NI-XNET-supported PXI, PCI, CompactDAQ, and CompactRIO devices. The Vehicle Communication Toolkit incorporates intellectual properties and products such as PROVEtech:RBS from AKKA.

The Vehicle Communication Toolkit offers a base and a full option. The following table lists a comparison of features included in the Vehicle Communication Toolkit (Full) and (Base) versions.

The Vehicle Communication Toolkit (Full) 1.1 has the following requirements:

  • At least 3 GB of disk space

Installation Instructions

Download the Vehicle Communication Toolkit (Full) installer from ni.com/downloads. NI software includes NI Package Manager to handle the installation. Refer to the NI Package Manager Manual for more information about installing, removing, and upgrading NI software using Package Manager.

Notes

  • If Windows Update is enabled, the installation process might hang if Windows Update interferes with the installation of Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Run-Time. Visit ni.com/r/exjq43 for more information and steps to resolve this issue.
  • You must have a valid license to activate the Vehicle Communication Toolkit (Full). Use the serial number that is included with your software to activate the Vehicle Communication Toolkit (Full). For more information on activation, refer to Activating a Product.

Finding Examples

Select Help»Find Examples from LabVIEW to launch the NI Example Finder. LabVIEW examples for Vehicle Communication Toolkit (Full) are located in the labview\examples\NI-VCOM directory. You can modify an example VI to fit an application, or you can copy and paste from one or more examples into a VI that you create.

C/C++ examples and a demo ECU application for Vehicle Communication Toolkit (Full) are locatd in the C:\Users\Public\Documents\National Instruments\NI-VCOM directory.

Automating the Installation of NI Products

You can automate the installation of most NI products using command-line arguments to suppress some or all of the installer user interface and dialog boxes.
