Overview

The MTS DataPlugin for RPC-III provides support for formatted files created by RPC III Software and RPC Pro Software from MTS. This DataPlugin helps you work with files in the .rsp and .tim file extensions.

In the software you will find this DataPlugin under the name RPC-III.

Supported Features (reading)

  • DataType is assumed as integer, when the related property is missing in the file.
  • A maximum of 256 channels is supported.
  • A maximum of 1024 parameters is supported. (RPC III format limitations: property names are limited to a maximum of 32 characters and values to a maximum of 96 characters)
  • Text with ASCII-characters-code less than 20H is replaced with underline character ("_").

Supported Features (writing)

  • A maximum of 256 channels is supported.
  • A maximum of 1024 parameter is supported. (RPC III format limitations: property names are limited to a maximum of 32 characters and values to a maximum of 96 characters)
  • Automaticly set these TDM properties to the related RPC-III file header properties:
    • TDM-Root-Property "DateTime" set to RPC-III property saving date.
    • The DataPlugin name (RPC_III) is written to RPC-III header property "Operation".
    • For each channel the RPC-III scaling properties (UPPER_LIMIT.CHAN_<n>, LOWER_LIMIT.CHAN_<n>) are set to channel minimum/maximum. (RPC-III Default = +-10)
    • For each channel the property "unit_string" set to RPC-III header property "UNITS.CHAN_<n>" (RPC III format limitations: property names are limited to a maximum of 32 characters and values to a maximum of 96 characters)
  • To control the export of RPC_III header properties manualy create and set these TDM channel properties: If these TDM channel properties are present, their values will override the values otherwise determined automatically by the DataPlugin.
    • Scale: Scaling factor of row values --> write to RPC property "SCALE.CHAN_<n>" (RPC III Default = 1)
    • Upper_LIMIT: Upper value range --> write to RPC property "UPPER_LIMIT.CHAN_<n>" (RPC III Default = +10)
    • Lower_LIMIT: Lower value range --> write to RPC property "LOWER_LIMIT.CHAN_<n>" (RPC III Default = -10)
  • Supports long channel buffering.

Note  Refer to Unsupported Windows Operating Systems for more information about support for Microsoft Windows OSes.

Note  MTS DataPlugin for RPC-III no longer supports Windows Vista/XP/7/8.x, Windows Server 2003/2008/2012, or any 32-bit Windows operating system. MTS DataPlugin for RPC-III 21.0 will not install or run on an unsupported OS. You cannot deploy or distribute applications that use MTS DataPlugin for RPC-III 21.0 to an unsupported OS. Additionally, after installing MTS DataPlugin for RPC-III 21.0, you cannot use any installers built on this computer with any version of LabVIEW, LabWindows™/CVI™, NI TestStand™, or Measurement Studio on an unsupported OS.

Application Software Support

NI MTS DataPlugin for RPC-III 21.0 supports the application software that support DataPlugins, for example DIAdem, SystemLink and LabVIEW.

Installation Instructions

Installing a C++ DataPlugin in DIAdem

Download the NI MTS DataPlugin for RPC-III installer from ni.com/dataplugins. NI software includes NI Package Manager to handle the installation. Refer to the NI Package Manager Manual for more information about installing, removing, and upgrading NI software using NI Package Manager.

Automating the Installation of NI Products

You can automate the installation of most NI products using command-line arguments to suppress some or all of the installer user interface and dialog boxes.

If the NI product you are installing uses Microsoft .NET 4.6.2, the .NET installer may run before any NI software installs and may require a reboot before the installation of NI software begins. To avoid a .NET reboot, install .NET 4.6.2 separately before you install NI software.

Using NI Software with Microsoft Windows 10

Microsoft Windows 10 is the latest version of the Windows operating system and features significant changes compared to previous versions. Windows 10 introduces several new capabilities and also combines features from both Windows 7 and Windows 8. Unsupported Windows Operating Systems

MTS DataPlugin for RPC-III no longer supports Windows Vista/XP/7/8.x, Windows Server 2003/2008/2012, or any 32-bit Windows operating system. Versions of this product that ship after May 1, 2021, may not install or execute correctly on these operating systems.
