This article answers the following questions:
- How do I transfer a license for NI software (LabVIEW, TestStand, VeriStand, or similar) to another user?
- Can I change the company ownership information for my NI licenses? For example, if my company was recently acquired or divested?
Transfer a license within the same company
To transfer a license to another employee at the same company, visit Manage my software and select Transfer License. Alternatively, you can contact customerservice@ni.com with the following information:
- Serial Number (only for Single Seat Licenses)
- New end user full name
- New end user email address
- New end user phone number
Note: To transfer a license to another company as part of a publicly announced or documented merger, acquisition, divestiture, or a company name change, please include a web link to the public announcement or other supporting documentation.
Transfer a license not within the same company
You also can transfer a license to a user not within the same company. A License Transfer form is required to be sent to customerservice@ni.com in the following cases:
- Selling a License to an unrelated company or entity.
- Buying a license from an unrelated company or entity.
- A Partner/integrator delivering a license to an end customer.
After you have submitted the License Transfer request, NI will contact you to confirm the transfer. Please allow a few business days for the transfer request to be completed.
In either scenario, please be aware that you are giving your rights for the licensed software to the new party listed. A license can be transferred up to four times per calendar year, and it may take from 24 to 48 hours to update the software service benefits after you receive license transfer confirmation.
