Installation Destination Options

The following table lists the options available in the Installation Destination ring control on the Distributed Files tab of the TestStand Deployment Utility . The table maps each option to a complete directory path on the target system for Microsoft Windows 10/8.1/7.

Note When you deploy on Windows 10/8.1/7, the name of the < user > subdirectory depends on the user account you use to elevate to administrator privileges.
Note Installation Destination Options maked with an asterisk (*) are not available in package-based distributions.
Installation Destination Option Windows Directory Path on Target System
Installation Directory* The directory the Installer Directory option on the Installer Options tab of the TestStand Deployment Utility defines.
TestStand Directory <TestStand>
Windows Directory* C:\Windows
Windows System Directory* C:\Windows\system (64-bit TestStand) Not Applicable
Windows System32 Directory C:\Windows\System32 (64-bit TestStand) 64-bit operating system directory
Note 32-bit files using this destination are installed to the C:\Windows\SysWOW64 directory when deployed to a computer using a 64-bit operating system.
Program Files Directory C:\<Program Files>
Note 32-bit files using this destination are installed to the C:\Program Files (x86) directory when deployed to a computer using a 64-bit operating system.
Start Menu Programs Directory* C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
Startup Directory C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
Desktop Directory C:\Users\< user >\Desktop
Personal Directory C:\Users\< user >\Documents
Temp Directory* C:\Users\< user >\AppData\Local\Temp
National Instruments Directory C:\<Program Files>\National Instruments
TestStand Public Documents Directory <TestStand Public> If you specify an environment file and select the Determine File Destinations Using Environment File option, TestStand uses the specified environment file to determine the path for this destination.
TestStand Application Data Directory <TestStand Application Data> If you specify an environment file and select the Determine File Destinations Using Environment File option, TestStand uses the specified environment file to determine the path for this destination.
(64-bit TestStand only) System WOW64 Directory* C:\Windows\SysWOW64 (32-bit operating system directory)
National Instruments Public Directory C:\<ProgramData>\National Instruments This directory is the parent of the <TestStand Public> directory.
Global TestStand Application Data Directory <TestStand Application Data> This destination is available only if you enable the Determine File Destinations Using Environment File option. Use this option to deploy files to the default TestStand configuration directory, even when using an environment file, to determine file destinations.
