Complete the following steps to forward annotate changes made in Multisim:

  1. From Multisim, select Transfer»Forward annotate to Ultiboard»Forward annotate to Ultiboard 14.1.

    A Save As dialog box appears.

  2. Save the file as a Ultiboard 14 (*.ewnet) file.

    The Forward Annotation dialog box appears, listing the differences between Schematic and Layout (Multisim and Ultiboard).

      During Forward Annotation, any pin names that appear in the dialog box are the Ultiboard pin names.

      If you are annotating a file that includes variants, the Variants Filter dialog box appears in this step.

  3. Optionally, make changes in the Difference column. This may generate more differences and actions.

    If there are any differences that require your attention (that is, conflicts), the OK button is disabled, and the conflicts are marked Input required in the Status column.

    You must resolve these before you can continue.

      Select a Difference to see a more detailed description in the Additional information field at the bottom of the dialog box.

    You can correct or ignore each difference from the Action in Layout column. The options that appear in this column depend on the differences that are found during annotation.

    Once you make a change the Status column changes to Modified .

    Along with changing the Action in Layout, you can also change options in the Difference column. Some changes to differences will generate more differences and more actions in layout.

  4. Select the desired actions from the Action in Layout column and click OK.

    The Forward Annotation dialog box closes and the Ultiboard file is updated to reflect the changes.

    Results appear in the Results tab of the Spreadsheet View. Ignored changes are labelled with a green arrow. Double-click on a green arrow to highlight and zoom to its ignored change, or right-click and select Go to.

      There may be times when a number of differences require the same action. In this case, you can select multiple rows by holding down <Ctrl> or <Shift> and selecting the differences. When you do this, any common actions or differences display. Select the desired action once by clicking on the down-arrow for any of the selected Differences in the Action in Layout column. The action is applied to all of the selected differences.

      Use the Export to file button to create a log file that lists the contents of the Forward Annotation dialog box in .csv format. This file is easily imported into a spreadsheet.
