TestStand Sequence Editor Keyboard Navigation

The TestStand Sequence Editor supports keyboard navigation between panes and windows, between panes in windows, between tabs in panes, and within tree and table controls.

Navigating Between Panes and Windows

Press <Ctrl-Tab> to display the Pane Navigation menu and hold the <Ctrl> key to prevent TestStand from closing the menu. The Pane Navigation menu contains a Panes list and a Windows list which represent all the panes and windows currently visible in the sequence editor.

While you hold the <Ctrl> key you can use the arrow keys or <Tab> and <Shift-Tab> to select a new pane or window to activate when you release the <Ctrl> key.

You can also use the keyboard to activate any pane through the View menu and any window through the Window menu.

Navigating Between Panes within a Window

Press the <Tab> key to navigate between panes in a window, such as the Sequences pane, Steps pane, and Variables pane.

Navigating within Panes

Press the <Tab> key to navigate between controls within a pane. If a pane contains tabs, when you navigate to the tab, use the left and right arrow keys to change the visible tab.

Navigating within a List

For list controls that contain multiple columns, such as the following controls, use the arrow keys to navigate between rows and columns:

  • Variables list on the Variables Pane
  • Parameters Table on a module tab
  • TestStand Sequence Analyzer rules, files, and analysis modules
  • TestStand File Diff and Merge utility

When you navigate to the plus or minus icon for an expandable row in the list, press <Space> or <Enter> to expand or collapse the row. You can also press the <+> or <-> keys on the keypad to expand or collapse a selected row, or press the <*> key on the keypad to expand the selected row and all items within the row. Press <Ctrl-+> on the keypad to standardize the width of each column to the width of the widest column.

When you press <Enter> in a field of a Value column, the focus moves to the value field for the next row.

Press <Space> or <Ctrl-F4> to display the drop-down list for a combo box control, such as a Boolean value.

Note   You cannot use the keyboard to access the buttons that appear within columns, such as Resize Array and Change Type. When you edit expressions, use the context menu of the control to launch the Expression Browser dialog box and to check for errors.

Navigating with the Insertion Palette

Press the <Tab> key to navigate between the expand/collapse buttons, the Adapter list, the Step Types list, and the Templates lists. Use the up and down arrows to move within the lists. Use the left and right arrow keys to expand and collapse folders within the lists.

In the Templates list, you can also press the <+> or <-> keys on the keypad to expand or collapse a selected row, or press the <*> key on the keypad to expand the selected row and all items within the row.
