Installing the Hardware Components

Set up the hardware components in the PXIe chassis and install other components in the hardware rack.

Note Complete the following tasks before installing, configuring, or operating the components included in the system.

Review the safety and compliance documentation for each component in the system. Refer to Related Documentation for links to relevant documentation for the individual components in the system.
Assemble the tools needed for installation.

Complete the following steps while referring to the component placement table for your system configuration.

Optional: Install the PXIe chassis in the rack.
Set up the PXIe chassis according to the PXIe-1095 User Manual.
Install the PXIe controller in the PXIe chassis and configure as a Windows OS controller, as detailed in the PXIe-8881 Getting Started.
Install the VST instrument(s) in the PXIe chassis as detailed in the PXIe-5842 User Manual.

Note Refer to the System Hardware Component Placement table for your system configuration to determine the slot placement for the instruments in the chassis.

Install other PXIe modules in the PXIe chassis as required for your system configuration.

Install slot blockers and filler panels in unused PXI slots to ensure proper cooling. Refer to the PXIe-1095 User Manual to ensure adequate chassis cooling and ventilation.
If you are configuring a 4-VST system, repeat steps 1 through 6 for additional PXIe chassis.
Install the data storage server(s) in the rack according to the Dell PowerEdge R7625 Installation and Service Manual.
If you are configuring a 4-VST system, install the CDA-2990 in the rack according to the OctoClock CDA-2990 KnowledgeBase.

System Hardware Component Placement

Use the following slot placement guidelines when configuring a system.
