PXIe-5842 Hardware Option Definitions

The PXIe-5842 supports a number of hardware options. The names of these options are used on ni.com and within NI software environments, and each named option refers to specific instrument capabilities.

Hardware options for the PXIe-5842 are broadly defined as follows:

  • Analysis—Ability to use the instrument as a signal analyzer; to run the NI-RFSA driver or RFmx
  • Generation—Ability to use the instrument as a signal generator; to run the NI-RFSG driver
  • Frequency range—Supported range of center frequencies
  • Bandwidth—Maximum supported instantaneous signal bandwidth
  • Other—Any specific optional functionality:
    • Pulse modulation: Ability to pulse modulate RF output
    • MGT streaming: Ability to use the multigigabit transceiver (MGT) ports for waveform streaming

    • The hardware options enabled for a given PXIe-5842 instrument are reported in NI configuration software, like MAX and Hardware Configuration Utility, and can be queried through the System Configuration API.
