Converting Calibration Kit Characterizations to SNP Format
The Pulsed RF Measurement Library includes a Calibration Kit SNP File Creator tool that converts calibration kit characterization data from *.xkt files to SNP format (.s1p or .s2p) for use in calibration kits from Keysight and other manufacturers.
Calibration Kit SNP File Creator is installed with the Pulsed RF Measurement Library. A 64-bit LabVIEW run-time engine version 2020 or later is required to run this tool. Perform the following steps to convert calibration kit characterization data to SNP format.
-
Run the Calibration Kit SNP File Creator tool. The Calibration Kit SNP File
Creator executable is installed to the C:\Program Files\National
Instruments\PRFM Library directory but can be copied to and run
from any location.

- In the Path to xkt file area click the three dots (…) and navigate to the folder containing the *.xkt file(s) to convert, or enter the path directly in the textbox.
-
(Optional) If you do not have a *.xkt file, you can directly
enter the frequency coefficients of the coaxial calibration coefficient
model:
- In the Cal Standard Configuration section, select the type of standard for which you are creating an SNP file.
- Enter a coefficient value in the Start Frequency, End Frequency, Number of Frequencies, and Frequency Ramp type textboxes.
-
In the Data Based Definition Frequency Selection
listbox, select the frequencies used to create the SNP file for cal standards
that have a data based definition:
- Frequencies from xkt File outputs an SNP file that contains the frequencies to align with the selected standard in the xkt file, and ignores frequencies specified in the SNP File Configuration section.
- Frequencies From SNP File Configuration outputs an SNP file containing the frequencies specified in the SNP File Configuration section by using interpolation on the values contained in the *.xkt.
- In the Directory for Generated snp Files area, click the three dots (…) and navigate to the folder where you want to store the generated SNP files, or enter the path directly in the textbox.
-
Click the Generate SNP Files button to start the
conversion.

Converted files appear in the Generated snp Files area with a *.s1p or *.s2p extension, depending on the measurement type.
