- 2 minute(s) read
Define a variables group within a test or test component to use the variable in another group.
-
Double-click Variables from the list of
objects where you added the group.
The variables group appears in a new configuration tab.
- Enter a unique name for the variable group.
- Click + New variable.
- In the Name column, click ... and select the name of the variable.
- In the Initialization Value column, enter the value that is preassigned to the variable when the test loads.
- Optional: In the Units column, select the physical unit of the variable.
- In the Data Type column, select the data type of the variable.
-
In the Decimal Places column, enter the
number of decimals for the PAcontroller display.
For example, the corresponding display has no decimal places if you enter 0. If you enter 1, the corresponding display has one decimal place. If the measurement is performed with higher precision, the exceeding digits are truncated. For example, 25 is rounded up.
If you do not use PAcontroller, the interface might not use the Decimal Places setting.
- Optional: In the Description column, enter a description of the variable.
- Click Save.
Constant Variables
You can use constant variables in any group type. Mark a variable name as a constant in the Names Manager.
Refer to Naming Conventions for more information.
You can modify a constant variable in the following cases:
- Before generating a test.
- Until the test or a test component is initialized.
- When the test component is initialized if the value of a constant variable is transferred through the component interface. In this case, only a one-time modification is possible.
You cannot modify or write a constant variable while a test is running.
