Use the NI-Sync trigger VIs to connect trigger lines in a single or multiple PXI chassis. Triggers are an essential component of a signal-based synchronization application. You can accomplish the following tasks using trigger terminals:
- Share a trigger signal to start data acquisition on multiple devices at the same time.
- Share a sync pulse to align common clocks on multiple chassis.
- Synchronize the system timing module and any connected peripherals with DStar terminals.
- Route digital signal pulses between multiple chassis or between modules in a single chassis.
- Distribute divided or full-speed clock signals between modules.
In addition to using the hardware trigger lines, you can also set up a software trigger in NI-Sync. A software trigger fires when you invoke niSync Send Software Trigger, allowing you to fire the trigger at a specific time in the program or let the user fire the trigger with a front panel button or switch.
