Setting Up the System Hardware
Set up the NI-iDDS Instrument Node hardware components in the cRIO controller.
- Review the safety and compliance documentation for each component in the system. Refer to Related Documentation for links to relevant documentation for the individual components in the system.
- Assemble the tools needed for installation.
- Set up the cRIO controller according to getting started manual for your controller.
- Install each C Series module according to the module getting started manual.
- Wire the C Series modules as indicated in the module getting started manual.
- Power on the controller.
Network Requirements for the cRIO System
Note NI-iDDS Instrument Node
software configures system hardware as the IEEE 1588 slave (timeReceiver) only. You
must supply another device to act as the IEEE 1588 master
(timeTransmitter).
cRIO System Configuration
Note NI-iDDS Instrument Node requires
that all C Series modules are set to Real-Time (NI-DAQmx)
program mode, the default mode. Use Measurement & Automation Explorer (NI MAX)
to view and set the program mode for all C Series
modules in the cRIO chassis, as described in Changing Module Programming Modes
in MAX in the getting started manual for your controller.
