Configures the signal generator Reference clock source and frequency. The signal generator uses the Reference clock to tune the Sample clock timebase of the signal generator so that the frequency stability and accuracy of the Sample clock timebase matches that of the Reference clock.

Inputs/Outputs

  • civrn.png Instrument Handle

Instrument Handle identifies a particular instrument session.

Instrument Handle is obtained from the niFgen Initialize VI, niFgen Initialize With Options VI, or the niFgen Initialize With Channels VI.

  • cstr.png Source

Source specifies the Reference clock source that you want the signal generator to use.

For example, when you set this parameter to Clock In, the signal generator uses the signal it receives at the CLK IN front panel connector as the Reference clock.

The Reference clock phase-locks with the signal generator Sample clock timebase to allow the frequency stability and accuracy of the Sample clock timebase to match that of the Reference clock.

    None (0)

Specifies that a Reference clock is not used.

    PXI Clock (1)

Specifies the PXI clock is used as the Reference clock source.

    Clock In (2)

Specifies that the CLK IN input signal from the front panel connector is used as the Reference clock source.

    Onboard Reference Clock (3)

Specifies that the onboard reference clock is used as the Reference clock source.

    RTSI 7 (4)

Specifies that the RTSI line 7 is used as the Reference clock source.

    Ref In (5)

Specifies that the REF IN input signal from the front panel connector is used as the Reference clock source.

  • cdbl.png Reference Clock Frequency

Reference Clock Frequency specifies the Reference clock frequency.

    Units: hertz (Hz)

  • cerrcodeclst.png error in (no error)

error in describes error conditions that occur before this node runs. This input provides standard error in functionality.

    Default value: no error

  • iivrn.png Instrument Handle Out

Instrument Handle Out passes a reference to your instrument session to the next VI.

  • ierrcodeclst.png error out

error out contains error information. This output provides standard error out functionality.
