When you right-click an EtherCAT project item, you can see the following item context menus:

  • Project root item menu:
    • New»Targets and Devices—Displays the Add Targets and Devices dialog box to add a real-time target.
  • Real-time target item menu:
    • New»Targets and Devices—Displays the Add Targets and Devices dialog box to add an EtherCAT master.
  • EtherCAT master item menu:
    • New»Targets and Devices—Displays the Add Targets and Devices dialog box to add an EtherCAT slave device.
    • Utilities»Import Device ProfilesImports one or more device profile XML files.
    • Deploy—Deploys the item configuration to the target controller.
    • Undeploy—Removes the item configuration from the target controller.
    • Online Master State—Displays the Online Master State dialog box.
    • Remove from Project—Removes the item from the project.
    • Rename—Renames the item.
    • Help—Displays this help file.
    • Properties—Displays the EtherCAT Master Properties dialog box.
  • EtherCAT slave device item menu:
    • New»Targets and Devices—Displays the Add Targets and Devices dialog box to add an EtherCAT slave device or module attached to the slave device item.
    • New»FPGA Target—Creates an FPGA target item under the NI 9145 item if the FPGA target does not exist. Refer to the NI-Industrial Communications for EtherCAT Readme for requirements on using the FPGA features of the NI 9145.
    • New»User-Defined Variable—Displays the Shared Variable Properties dialog box to add a user-defined variable to the NI 9145 item. Add an FPGA target before adding a user-defined variable.
    • Online Device State—Displays the Online Device State dialog box.
    • Remove from Project—Removes the item from the project.
    • Rename—Renames the item.
    • Help—Displays this help file.
    • Properties—Displays the EtherCAT Slave Device Properties dialog box.
  • EtherCAT module item menu:
    • Remove from Project—Removes the item from the project.
    • Rename—Renames the item.
    • Help—Displays the module help file.
    • Properties—Displays the C Series Module Properties dialog box.
