This section explores the Ethernet network interface and recommended networking topologies for the cDAQ chassis.
Ethernet Network Interface
The Ethernet network interface transfers analog input, analog output, and digital I/O data between the NI ASIC and the network. It gathers the data into TCP/IP packets that can be sent across the network and interpreted by the host. The Ethernet network interface also provides synchronization features that enable analog input, analog output, and counter/timers to be synchronized to other chassis across a distributed network.
Ethernet Port
The Ethernet port can be used to connect the chassis to the network. The port can also be used to connect to an external switch to connect multiple chassis in a star topology.
