Test Preparation

All tests are prepared and parameterized in the PAtools database by using PAconfigurator.

A powertrain application test consists of the following:

  • Global database groups provided by the PAlibrary (e. g., base modules like the message system).
  • Database groups describing the test bench (e. g., measuring equipment or drive inverter system).
  • Database groups describing the DUT (e. g., monitoring, setpoint limitation, or gear ratio of the transmission).
  • Database groups defining the specific test run.
  • Additional configuration options depending on the application type and customer specific implementation.

It is possible to change the structure of the database folders and the database groups. However, due to the fact that the structure of the database has certain dependencies on drivers and future updates, NI strongly recommends keeping the database structure as defined by NI.

Important Should you decide to change the database structure, or to implement changes in the signal flow or in-between the modularity of the powertrain application, NI can no longer deliver standard updates. As a consequence, it will become very complicated to support the specific installation in the future.
