Test Bench Periphery
Safety Technology
Test benches are equipped with a safety control system for connection of the safety-relevant signals (emergency stop button, door contacts, fire alarm, temperature monitoring, vibration monitoring, etc.). The safety control system also monitors the reduced speed in the setup mode.
Building Services Engineering
You can equip the safety control system with an interface to the building services engineering, depending on the tasks required.
Typical tasks of building services engineering include controlling exhaust gas extraction, fuel supply, test space ventilation, etc.
In the simplest case, the interface to the building services engineering comprises digital and analog inputs and outputs, but can also be a digital interface (e.g., Profibus DP or PROFINET).
The interface to the building services engineering is planned separately.
Vehicle Electrics
The safety control system makes the I/O contacts for communication with the vehicle electrics available.
Typical signals of vehicle electrics is ignition; other separate ignition circuits are also possible.
The vehicle electrics consist of the following components:
- Controllable DC power supply (12 V/24 V)
- Decentralized terminals and power contactor to the digital output switches
DUT Conditioning Unit
Many powertrain test benches are equipped with various DUT conditioning systems such as coolant water conditioning units and electric drive and power units. The powertrain application contains several control circuits to trigger and control the DUT conditioning unit. These control circuits comprise variably assignable measuring points and variably assignable outputs.
The control circuits with continuously changeable actuators (e.g., proportional valve) use a PIDT1 controller. The number of control circuits can be expanded.
The control circuits with a digital actuator (e.g., contactor for fan ON/OFF) comprise a 2-point controller with hysteresis. The output can be inverted so that either a fan for cooling or a heater for warming the components can be connected. The number of these control circuits can also be expanded.
Devices and Device Drivers
Devices can optionally be triggered by the powertrain application.
Various application systems can be incorporated in the application to record DUT-specific measured values.
The list of the devices required at the test bench are specific to each project.
