Use the commands described in the following table to work with snippets:

File»Snippets»Save selection as snippet

Select the desired components and/or wires on your Multisim design, and select this command. A Save As dialog box appears. Navigate to the desired location, name the file, and save it as a snippet (*.png) file.

Any subcircuits (SCs) will be included and available when you open the snippet in Multisim. The image will only show the SC box, not its contents.

Hierarchical blocks (HBs) must be saved as separate snippets.

File»Snippets»Save active design as snippet

Select to display a Save As dialog box appears. Navigate to the desired location, name the file, and save it as a snippet (*.png) file. The entire design will be saved.

Any subcircuits (SCs) and multi-pages will be included and available when you open the snippet in Multisim. The image will only show the SC box, not its contents.

File»Snippets»Paste snippet

Select to display an Open dialog box. Navigate to the desired location and snippet (*.png) file and click Open. The snippet file will be opened on the current design.

You must select a snippet that was created from a selection, not from an entire design file, otherwise an error message displays.

File»Snippets»Open snippet file

Select to display an Open dialog box. Navigate to the desired location and snippet (*.png) file and click Open.

Use this command with a snippet that was created from either a selection or a Multisim design file. It will open the file in a new design.

  To use a snippet, the version of Multisim you are running must be the same as, or later than, the version of Multisim in which the snippet was saved.
