Two-terminal non-directional components like resistors have symbol pin names (1 and 2) that will automatically swap if they are connected the “wrong way” according to the pin name that is on the schematic.

Complete the following steps to view the pin names for all devices on the schematic:

  1. Select Options»Sheet properties and click the Sheet visibility tab.
  2. Click the Symbol Pin Names checkbox until a checkmark appears and click OK to close the dialog.

In the above example, if Pin 1 is connected to a pin that should be connected to Pin 2, the pin names automatically swap. (Pin 1 becomes Pin 2 and vice versa).
