During installation, files of specific types are placed in specific locations. If necessary you can point to a new location to find, for example, database files.

Click on an item in the Paths tab to show its description at the bottom of the tab.

Complete the following steps to change file locations:

  1. Choose Options»Global options»Paths tab.
  2. Change the General settings as desired:
    • Design default path—This is where all new files are saved, unless you manually navigate to a new location when saving, and where the Open dialog box initially opens.
    • Templates default path—This is where custom template files are saved.
    • User button images path—This is where you store any user-created toolbar button graphics.
  3. Change the User settings as desired:
    • Configuration file—Contains the user interface settings, such as what toolbars are visible on Multisim launch.
    • New user configuration file—Click to create a new user configuration file and select an item from the drop-down list.
  4. Change the settings in the Database files area as desired:
    • Master database—The location of the Master Database.
    • Corporate database—The location of the Corporate Database.
    • User database—The location of the User Database.
  5. Change the Miscellaneous settings as desired:
    • User LabVIEWTM instruments path—The location where user-created LabVIEW instruments are found.
    • Code models path—The location where user-created code models are found.
    • Xilinx tools path—The location where the Xilinx tools are found. This appears if Xilinx tools are installed on your computer. This is an education-specific feature.
