A boost converter is a step-up converter that can be represented by the equivalent circuit shown in the figure below.

Complete the following steps to create a boost converter model:

  1. From the Model tab of the Component Properties dialog box, click Add/Edit. The Select a Model dialog box appears.
  2. Click Start Model Maker. The Select Model Maker dialog box appears.
  3. From the Model makers list, select Boost Converter and click Accept. The Boost Converter Model dialog box appears.
  4. Enter desired values in the Boost Converter Model dialog box:
    • Inductor value—Refer to the above figure.
    • Resistance of inductor—Refer to the above figure.
    • Capacitor value—Refer to the above figure.
    • ESR of capacitor—The equivalent series resistance of the capacitor. Refer to the above figure.
    • Switching frequency—The rate at which the DC voltage is switched.
