The table in the Advanced naming tab contains a list of naming options for the selected bus.
The priority of the available bus names is listed from highest, at the top of the table, to lowest, at the bottom.
Bold text indicates the name that is currently used to name the bus, as in the example shown below.
This tab is intended for advanced users. Be careful when changing bus names from this tab. When applicable, you may wish to check the bus names in other instances of the same nested circuit to be sure that they are as intended.
Complete the following steps to select an alternate bus name:
- Double-click on the desired bus to display the Bus Properties dialog box.
- Select the Advanced naming tab. A list of the bus names that are available for the selected bus appears in the table. These are:
- Prefix—The prefix for the bus name. This will be combined with the Name. For example a bus with a prefix of HB3 and a Name of A would be named HB3/A.
- Name—The name for the bus.
- Type—The source for the bus name. For example, Preferred name, Hierarchical connector, Hidden on-page connector.
All buses have a hidden on-page connector. This is the source of the bus's name when it is first placed on the design.
- Sheet—The sheet the name is found on.
- Select a row from the table and enter a new Name.
To change the selected bus's name to a Name that falls lower in the table, enter or change the desired Name, and delete the Name from any row that is above the new Name.
Multisim scans the table from top to bottom, and selects the first row that has an entry in the Name column for the bus name. The text in the newly selected row becomes bold, indicating that this is the selection used to name the bus.
