Note To download and install updates, you must enable User Account Control (UAC) and you must log into at least a standard level Windows account. You might need to restart your computer after installing any updates.

Installing Available Updates

  1. Select the updates that you want to install. Use the Edit»Select All Critical Updates and Patches menu item to select all critical updates to install. Use the Edit»Select None menu item to deselect all selected updates.
  2. Click Install.

    Update Service checks for incompatibilities between installed software and any updates you checked. If incompatibilities are found, Update Service gives you a chance to correct them. If no incompatibilities are found, Update Service downloads and installs the selected updates. Update Service displays a page with progress bars and informs you of the updates being downloaded and installed.

    Note
    • Select the File»Exit menu item at any time to exit Update Service without downloading or installing any updates.
    • To pause updates while they are downloading, click Pause or select File»Exit and click Save and Exit. To continue the download and installation of any paused updates, relaunch Update Service and click Resume. Click Cancel to cancel the installation of the selected updates.
    • To cancel downloading, select File»Exit and click Delete and Exit.
  3. After the update has completed downloading, Update Service closes and the update installer appears. Follow the directions in the installer to complete the update.

Installing Saved Updates

To install saved updates, navigate to the directory you set in Preferences and launch setup.exe for the update you want to install.
