VMS for NI TestStand Residual Picture Carrier Utility
Introduction
This document describes how to use the NI TestStand Residual Picture Carrier custom step type.
This custom step type is used to calculate Residual Picture Carrier based on the result of previous four Level measurements.
These four Level measurements have to be performed right before the Residual Picture Carrier step. The level measurements have to be in the order shown on Figure 1.

Residual Picture Carrier = (<3>-<1>)/(<3>-<2>)
Modulation Depth = (<3>-<4>)/(<3>-<2>)
How to use the NI TestStand Residual Picture Carrier step type
The calculation performed in the Residual Picture Carrier is based on the 4 level measurements prior to the Residual Picture carrier step.
The step type is derived from the National Instruments installed NI_MultipleNumericLimitTest which means that the pass/fail limits are being specified in a preconfigured limit editor. This is accessed by right-clicking on the Residual Picture Carrier step and select "Edit Limits…". The NI TestStand standard limit editor shown on Figure 2 will then allow the user to specify limits for Residual Picture carrier and Modulation Depth.

Examples
Refer to the NI Video Measurement Suite Readme for the location of TestStand sequence example(s) for this utility.
Returned values to NI TestStand
Residual Picture Carrier and Modulation Depth are passed back to NI TestStand by the Residual Picture Carrier type into a normal "Multiple Numeric Limit" Step Type result container.
