Digital Hardware

The NI VMS system supports different types of video acquisition hardware for digital test solutions. In the following, you will find information about the hardware you need for the acquisition of digital video.

Note Note  The NI PXIe-1491 has replaced the NI PXI-2172, NI PXI-654x, and VideoSPX-i in NI VMS test systems. While NI VMS still supports the NI PXI-2172, NI PXI-654x and VideoSPX-i legacy hardware solutions, NI does not recommend using the legacy hardware solutions in new test systems. Refer to the NI Video Measurement Suite Readme for information about the latest recommended hardware solutions.

Digital acquisition involves digital I/O and deserialization for interfacing to the specific video interface.

The NI VMS system offers three approaches for digital acquisition:

  1. NI PXIe-1491 handles digital acquisition including HDMI video.
  2. (LEGACY) NI PXI 2172 and a NI PXI 654x handle digital acquisition including HDMI video.
  3. (LEGACY) VideoSPX-i and NI PXI 654x handle digital acquisition including HDMI video.
