niVMS Active Picture VI
Extracts all active picture samples from the video buffer and returns the data along with necessary timing information so that it can be displayed in an intensity graph. The intensity graph must have a vertical scale that shows ascending line numbers in a downwards direction. Active picture lines and horizontal start and end times are all defined in the applicable video standards configuration file. Average picture level (APL) is calculated as a percentage of nominal bar level. CVBS and CAV channels can be specified, but with S-Video, the active picture is always from the luminance (Y) channel.
![]() |
CVBS Channel specifies the channel number (A or B) for extraction of the active picture from composite signals only. It does not apply to S-Video or component signals. The default value is A.
![]() |
CAV Channel specifies the channel number (G/Y, B/Pb, or R/Pr) for extraction of the active picture from component signals only. It does not apply to composite or S-Video signals. The default value is G/Y.

Interlaced Field specifies the field number (1 or 2) for extraction of the active picture lines from interlaced signals. It does not apply to progressive signals. The default value is 1.
![]() |
CVBS Line Averaging? specifies TRUE to enable noise reduction in the active line region by averaging lines over multiple frames. (CVBS only).
![]() |
CVBS Smoothing Filter? specifies TRUE to enable noise reduction in the active line region by applying a third order smoothing filter. (CVBS only).

Error In describes error conditions that occur before this node runs. This input provides standard error in functionality.
![]() |
Active Picture Samples returns a 2-D array of DBL samples representing the active picture region of the stored video signal.

Timing Info contains timing information for the active picture array to facilitate display on an intensity graph.
