Click the Generate Report button on the TestStand File Diff and Merge utility toolbar or select File»Generate Report to launch the Generate Report dialog box, in which you can specify a file path for an XML that documents the differences found or merges performed in the specified files. You can also enter comments for the report itself or for each file you are comparing, including the final merged file. You can also specify how to view the report after it is generated.

The XML file uses the DifferStyleSheet.xslt style sheet located in the <TestStand> \Components\Stylesheets\FileDiffer directory. Use the XML Packaging Utility to package the files necessary to view the XML report on a computer that does not have TestStand installed.

The Generate Report dialog box contains the following options:

• Report Path —File path of the report to create.
• Report Comments —Comments for the complete report.
• Base File Comments —Comments for the base file. This option is available only when you compare three files.
• File 1 Comments —Comments for the first file.
• File 2 Comments —Comments for the second file.
• Merged File Comments —Comments for the final merged file. This option is available only when you compare three files.
• Launch Viewer When Done —When you enable this option, the utility launches the report in the viewer application associated with the XML extension.

You must specify a report path before you can click the Save button.
