File Format Options Dialog Box

Launch the Station Options dialog box, click the File tab, and click File Format Options to launch the File Format Options dialog box, in which you can specify the file format for new files, the station globals file, the users file, the templates file, and type palette files.

Choose from one of the following formats:

  • INI (format available in TestStand 3. x or earlier)
Note The File Format Options dialog box no longer provides the option to change from another file format to INI. Reading INI files is still supported. Saving files in the INI format will be deprecated in a future release of TestStand.
  • XML (most readable, largest)
Note National Instruments reserves the right to change the XML file format in future releases to support new features and to improve usability.
  • Binary (fastest and smallest)
Notice If you change a file you store in an SCC system from XML or INI to Binary, you must update the SCC system to set the file type as binary. Otherwise the SCC provider might incorrectly process the binary content of the file that appears to be white space, resulting in a corrupt file.

The File Format Options dialog box contains the following options:

  • New Format for New Files —The format in which TestStand saves new sequence files.
  • File List —Selects a TestStand file the Format setting for file control modifies.
  • Format setting for file < selected file > —The format in which TestStand saves the selected file in the file list.

You can also change the format of an existing sequence file by opening the Sequence File Properties dialog box and changing the File Format option.
