Excluding Custom Properties

Exclude custom properties from the index to save disk space and show only the most relevant information in the properties display in Data Navigation. You can either exclude all custom properties automatically, or manually select the custom properties you want to exclude.
- In Data Indexing, click DataFinder Instances.
- Select an instance and click .
- On the Custom Properties tab, determine whether you want to exclude custom properties on File, Group, or Channel level.

Choose one of the following options to exclude or reinclude properties in the
index:
Goal Instructions Automatically exclude non-optimized and new properties - Select the level (File, Group, or Channel).
- Switch the toggle to Autoexclude properties. Click OK.
- To reduce the physical index size after excluding properties, click Reset Index on the Index tab.
Note Deoptimizing an optimized custom property automatically excludes it.Automatically reinclude properties - Switch off the Autoexclude properties toggle.
- Optional: Click Reset Index to retroactively include excluded properties in the index.
Manually exclude properties - Select properties and click Exclude to remove the properties from the index.
- To reduce the physical index size after excluding properties, click Reset Index on the Index tab.
Manually reinclude all properties - Select the excluded properties and click Deoptimize.
- Click Reset Index on the
Index tab to reinclude the properties
of indexed files in the index.Note Reincluding custom properties in the index may significantly increase your index size.
- Click Apply to accept the settings.
