Install the device into the computer
- Power off and unplug the computer.
- Access the computer system expansion slots. This step might require you to remove one or more access panels on the computer case.
- Locate a compatible slot and remove the corresponding slot cover on the computer back panel. PCIe-5764 devices can be inserted only into PCI Express slots.
- Touch any metal part of the computer to discharge any static electricity.
-
Insert the device into the slot you selected. Gently rock the device into place without
forcing it.

-
Secure the PCI Express mounting bracket of the device to the computer chassis with two
bracket screws.
Note Because of the high mass of the PCI Express FlexRIO devices, installing the bracket screws is recommended. Installing the bracket screws increases mechanical stability and electrically connects the front panel to the chassis, which can improve signal quality and electromagnetic performance.
- Connect the 6-pin PCI Express power connector from the power supply to the PCI Express FlexRIO device.
- Reinstall any access panels on the computer case.
- Power on your computer.
Maintaining Forced-Air Cooling
Inadequate air circulation can cause the temperature within a PC chassis/case to rise above the maximum recommended operating temperature for your device. Overheating can cause a thermal shutdown or damage to the device.
-
Install all chassis/case filler panels after installing the device.
Missing filler panels disrupt the necessary air circulation in the chassis.
-
Allow plenty of space around the chassis/case fan intake vents and exhaust
vents.
Do not block the fan vents. Blocking the fan vents impedes the airflow that is needed for cooling.
-
Maintain proper airflow within the chassis or case.
For devices with an onboard fan:
- Ensure that the onboard fan is not obstructed.
- Leave the slot adjacent to the fan side of the PCIe-5764 empty. If you must use the adjacent slot, install a card that allows for the maximum amount of clearance between the fan and the adjacent device (for example, low-profile cards).
- Ensure that the PC chassis/case has active cooling that provides airflow across the card cage.
- Leave the slots adjacent to the PCIe-5764 empty. If you must use the adjacent slot, install a card that allows for the maximum amount of clearance between each device (for example, low-profile cards).
Note Refer to your PC chassis/case documentation for more
information about air circulation paths, fan settings, space allowances, and
cleaning procedures.
