Creating Test Procedures

Complete the following steps to create a new test procedure:
- In the Navigation area, click Procedures.

Click New Procedure and configure the following settings:

Enter a Name for the procedure type.
Note The rules for assigning names to PAconfigurator-objects apply.
- Select the procedure type from the Type dropdown list or create a new type by selecting Add Procedure Type.

Select the constraints from the Devices Under Test Type Restrictions
list.
Note If a test procedure is already used in a test with a DUT type, this DUT type is locked. You cannot select the DUT type for further tests.

Click Add Variable Input Parameter for each variable that
you want to configure when creating a test and configure the following settings:
- Defined Variable—The variable as defined in the Test Procedure content folder.
- Display Name—The name that you see when creating a test.
- Default Value—The default value of the variable.
- Configuration Rule—The rule that determines the minimum and maximum values for the parameter. Alternatively, you can choose from the entries of a user-defined Selection List.
- Click Save.

Enter a Name for the procedure type.
Versioning Test Procedures
Version a Test Procedure for improved traceability of changes or to create Test Procedure versions with unique input parameters. You must version a Test Procedure to upload a Test Procedure to SystemLink.
When versioning a Test Procedure, the current state of the Test Procedure gets versioned. All content in the Test Procedure, including input parameters, is captured and made read-only. You cannot make changes to the versioned copy of the Test Procedure.
Create a version of a Test Procedure from the summary page of that Test Procedure.
- Open the Procedures tab.

Select a procedure.
Selecting a procedure opens the summary page of that Test Procedure.
- Click Create version.
- Optional: Enter a Description.

Click Create.
The summary page of the Test Procedure displays an entry for the new version in the Versions section.
- Optional: To verify input parameters for a version of the Test Procedure, click > in the Versions section.
Access the content folder for the versioned Test Procedure in . The content folder for the versioned Test Procedure gets copied and stored in the same folder as the original Test Procedure. The versioned folder includes the version number at the end of the folder name (for example, _1). All links and references in the versioned folder are copies of the original.
When building a test with the Test Wizard, you can select a specific version of a Test Procedure. You can also configure the values of the contained input parameters.
Uploading Test Procedures to SystemLink
You can upload a PAtools test procedure to SystemLink as a test plan template. When uploaded the first time, PAtools creates a new test plan template in SystemLink for the PAtools test procedure. PAtools creates an association between them. For subsequent uploads, PAtools updates the associated test plan template in SystemLink.
PAtools passes SystemLink the following information:
- Input parameters that are set when creating a SystemLink test plan from this test plan template
- SystemLink product families that are compatible with the test plan template
- PAtools Applications that this Test Procedure can use
- The SystemLink dashboard that monitors a running test from SystemLink
- The SystemLink execution workflow for the SystemLink test plan created from this test plan template
The test plan template in SystemLink is added to the SystemLink workspace, which is defined in .
You must create at least one version of a Test Procedure before you can upload the Test Procedure to SystemLink.
Complete the following steps to create a test plan template and upload the Test Procedure to SystemLink:
- Open the Procedures tab.
- Click Upload to SystemLink.
- Enter a Name for the test plan template.

Enter a Template Group.
The SystemLink Test Plan Editor uses template groups to organize the presentation of the templates into groups.
- Select the version of the Test Procedure you want to use.
- Enter a summary of the test plan template.
- Select a Dashboard that should be used when monitoring a running test in SystemLink.
- Click Ok.
Deleting Versioned Test Procedures
Delete a version of a Test Procedure from the summary page of the Test Procedure.
- Open the Procedures tab.

Select a procedure.
Selecting a procedure opens the summary page of the Test Procedure.

In the Versions section, click the trash icon for the
version that you want to delete.
You can delete a version of a Test Procedure that you uploaded to SystemLink. In this case, a window appears with a reminder that the version is linked to SystemLink. Confirm that you want to proceed with the deletion.
