Configure all hardware that the real-time system starts. Add new Hardware nodes for each device and hardware interface that the real-time system uses.

The child nodes in the Hardware folder represent devices and hardware interfaces such as the following:
  • CAN
  • CANlogger
  • PROFIBUS
  • PROFINET
  • PROFINET slave, PNIO software stack
  • SCPI
  • Serial
  • NI-Serial
  • FPGA
  • XCP
  • ISO-TP

When configuring hardware, the following display fields are read-only.

Table 10. Read-Only Display Fields
Field Description
Slot Display of the slot.
Found Enabled if the corresponding hardware was found at the system start up. Only applicable for PCI devices and PCIe devices.
Initialized Enabled if the corresponding hardware was initialized at the system start up. Only applicable for PCI devices and PCIe devices.

Complete the following steps to add a device or interface to the Hardware node:

  1. Right-click the Hardware folder and select Add item.
    The configuration window appears.
  2. For IdRef, select the device or the interface that you want to configure.
  3. Optional: Enter a Comment.
  4. Add the parameters required for your hardware or interface.
    1. In the ParameterList table, click +.
    2. Select the Parameter name.
    3. Specify the Value of the parameter.
  5. Verify that the Activated status option is enabled.
Only activated devices load when the real-time system starts.
