Configure parameters for the network.

NI recommends configuring networks in NI MAX. You can configure networks in PAtools PCU Configuration if required.
  1. Open PCU configuration settings » Network.
  2. For Hostname, enter the name of the PXI controller.
  3. Optional: For DhcpSendHostname, select whether the host name is transmitted when using DHCP.

The DHCP client on the real-time system tells the DHCP server under which name it wants to be accessible. The DHCP client is assigned an IP address dynamically.

Disable DhcpSendHostname if the client is assigned an IP address and a host name. Disable DhcpSendHostname for networks with fixed naming rules.

  4. For Gateway, enter the IP address of the Standard-Gateway.
  5. Enable or disable startFtpDaemon.
  6. Optional: For Samba, configure the Samba server on the PXI controller.

Access the PXI file system through a Samba server on the PXI controller. The optional entries in the Samba field supplement the general Samba settings.

If required, deactivate the Samba settings by removing the preceding # where applicable. The following settings are configurable:

    • Browsable: Select whether the PAtools share is displayed in the Windows network environment.
    • Guest access: The parameters guest ok and guest only control the password query. If you select no for either parameter, a password is required.
      • guest ok: Select whether access for guest users is allowed or prohibited. The default is no.
      • guest only: Select whether guest users have access. The default is no.
Note If you use the default settings for Samba sharing, you must store valid login information in the test station settings.
