Adding a DeviceNet Master and Connected Slave Devices
To add a DeviceNet master and connected Slave devices to the LabVIEW project, complete the
following steps .
Note If
you only want to use DeviceNet VIs, you only need to complete Step 1
and start using the VIs.
Installing the DeviceNet Interface Card on the Host
- Right-click My Computer and choose Properties, switch to Scan Engine page, and select the Start Scan Engine on Deploy checkbox.
- Right-click My Computer in the LabVIEW Project Explorer and select New»Targets and Devices to display the Add Targets and Devices dialog box. Then go to the Common Steps section of current topic.
Installing the DeviceNet Interface Card on the NI Real-Time Controller
- Launch LabVIEW. Create a new empty project by selecting Empty Project under the new heading. Save this project using the name desired, for example, DeviceNet.lvproj.
- Add the controller you want to use to this empty project and right-click the controller item and select Connect to connect the controller.
- Right-click the controller item in the LabVIEW Project Explorer and select New»Targets and Devices to display the Add Targets and Devices dialog box. Then go to the Common Steps section of current topic.
Common Steps
- Expand the DeviceNet Master Interface category to view
the available DeviceNet masters. Note If you do not find any master interface available, make sure that you have an NI-DeviceNet hardware interface card installed.
- Select an available DeviceNet master interface and click OK to display the Master Settings dialog box.
- Keep the default options and click OK to add the master and connected slave devices automatically.
- You can see the new items in the LabVIEW Project Explorer. If you cannot see the
connected slave devices in the project tree, make sure that you connect the
DeviceNet slave devices to the DeviceNet network.
