Initial and Idle States

The initial state configures the state of the data generation channels after a session is
configured but before the device starts generating the waveform. The initial state is
often useful while the device is waiting for a Start trigger.
Note The initial state is not the same as
the channel power-up state. For more information about the channel power-up state,
refer to the Device Specifications.
The idle state configures the state of the data generation channels after the waveform generation has begun and the generation has paused or stopped.
You can choose between initial state and idle state for each channel. You can select the following values on all digital waveform generator/analyzers for data generation channels:
- 1—Drive the channel to a high level.
- 0—Drive the channel to a low level.
- X—Hold last value/Leave the channel at its current state.
- Z—(PXI 654x/655x only) Put the channel in a high-impedance state.
Note If you use an
X Idle state in double data rate (DDR) mode, the last
value held is the last valid state of the channel.
