Adding Network Devices

Network Devices contains network and wireless devices available from this system. With Network Devices, you can view and configure devices connected over a network.

What is a network device?

A network device is any device that is accessible over a network or wireless connection. Such devices may be accessible by multiple computers and do not run a real-time operating system. Network devices are not the same as remote systems. A remote system denotes a real-time target that can be managed or configured over the network while a network device does not run a real-time operating system.

Only NI-VISA 4.6 and NI-DAQmx 9.0 and later support this feature. Devices that do not support this feature show up directly under Devices and Interfaces.

Adding a network device

If your Network Device is not displayed in this list, click Add Network Device and select the type of device you want to add. Complete the wizard to add your Network Device to MAX.

To add to MAX devices that do not support the Network Devices feature, right-click on Devices and Interfaces and select Create New.

For more information about installing your network device, refer to the hardware documentation for your system.
