CAN Interface Property Dialog Box

Right-click the IP address or host name in the Device Tree of the Configure HW I/O Mappings dialog box and select Add Device»NI-CAN to display this dialog box.

You also can launch this dialog box by right-clicking a CAN device in the Device Tree and selecting Device Properties.

Use this dialog box to configure properties of an NI-CAN device.

This dialog box includes the following components:

  • Configure CAN Interfaces—Use this page to select the CAN interface you want to use for the simulation. You also use this page to associate a .dbc or .ncd file with each interface.
    • CAN Interface—Displays the available CAN interfaces on each CAN device installed on the real-time (RT) target you specified in the SIT Connection Manager dialog box.
    • Requery Device List—Queries for CAN devices and updates the list of devices in CAN Interface. Click this button any time you add a CAN device to the target and want to discover it and configure it.
    • Limit to devices found—Displays only the devices found on the target in CAN Interface. When this option is disabled, all possible CAN interfaces are listed, which allows you to configure a device offline.
    • DBC or NCD File—Allows you to browse for and select a *.dbc or *.ncd file to associate with the CAN Interface.
    • Group Channels by Message—Groups channels by CAN messages.
  • FTP Options—Use this page to determine how you want to transfer the *.dbc or *.ncd file associated with the CAN Interface.
    • Yes transfer the file(s) to the default directory (c:\ni-rt\system)—Transfers the files to the c:\ni-rt\system directory.
    • Yes transfer the file(s) to this custom directory—Transfers the files to the directory you specify in Custom Directory.
    • No the files are already on the target in this directory—Uses the files in Current Directory.
