Requires: Robotics Module

Use one of the following methods to display the CAD Model Importer:

  • In the Robot Simulation Model Builder, when you add a CAD model or edit a robot component, the importer displays. Select a robot component in the builder, right-click the component, and select Edit from the shortcut menu to edit the robot component in the importer.
  • In the Configure Wheel dialog box, click the Edit Roller Model or Edit Frame Model button to launch the importer, which you can use to edit the roller or wheel frame of the wheel model.
  • In the Robotics Environment Simulator Wizard, select an environment in the Components list or on the Environment tab and click the Edit () button to import an environment to the simulation program.

Use the importer to import or edit a model for use in the Robot Simulation Model Builder. The CAD model that you import displays visual models only. You must add physical models to the CAD model to create a component model for use in the builder.

The CAD Model Importer contains the following items:

  • Model Tree—Lists components of the model that you import. The Model Tree displays both the visual models and physical models.
    • Visual Model—Displays only the visual model.
    • Physical Model—Displays only the physical model.
  • Properties—Displays the properties of a model that you select in the Model Tree. Click a property or value to modify the property.
  • Model View—Displays the component models in a simulation environment.
  • View Model Options—Allows you to customize the visual and physical views of the simulation.
    • Both Models—Displays both the visual models and physical models.
    • Visual Model—Displays only the visual model.
    • Physical Model—Displays only the physical model.
  • View Options—Allows you to customize your view of the simulation within the 3D picture.
    • View to XY plane—Changes the view to be along the XY axes.
    • View to YZ plane—Changes the view to be along the YZ axes.
    • View to XZ plane—Changes the view to be along the XZ axes.
    • View to Object—Zooms in on a component you select in the Model View.
  • Export—Saves the model as multiple components or a single component. If you save the model as a single component, LabVIEW saves the model as one robot part. If you save the model as multiple components, the model appears as separate robot parts in the Parts List when you import the model in the builder. You may want to save a model as multiple components if the model contains complicated parts that you want to edit or move in the builder. You must save component models to LabVIEW Data\Robotics\Simulator\Model\Config\Customized Parts.
Note  This button only appears when you launch the importer by editing a robot part from the builder.
