In Part 1 of this tutorial, you open a trace connection between the Desktop Execution Trace Toolkit and the example project Desktop Execution Trace Toolkit.lvproj, before you begin a trace session.

  1. Launch LabVIEW.
  2. Navigate to the labview\examples\Desktop Execution Trace directory and open Desktop Execution Trace Toolkit.lvproj.
  3. In the Project Explorer window, right-click My Computer and select Trace Execution from the shortcut menu to launch the Desktop Execution Trace Toolkit and open a trace connection to the project.
Note  The toolkit uses the LabVIEW VI Server to connect to the applications on which you execute trace sessions. If LabVIEW prompts you to enable the VI Server, click Yes.
  4. Verify that the Machine field displays the name of computer on which the example project runs and that the Port field displays the default port value 3363.
  5. Verify that the Application Instance pull-down menu displays Desktop Execution Trace Toolkit.lvproj.

After you open a trace connection between the toolkit and Desktop Execution Trace Toolkit.lvproj, you can configure a trace session in Part 2 of this tutorial.
