The LabVIEW Datalogging and Supervisory Control (DSC) Module provides multiple options for viewing and retrieving alarm and event data.

You can view and retrieve alarm and event data in the following ways:

  • Alarm and Event Display Control — You can use the Alarm and Event Display control to view alarm and event data that you want to monitor from any LabVIEW processes running on the network. You also can acknowledge alarms in this control.
  • Summary Data Control — You can use this control to view alarm data, such as the number of active alarms and unacknowledged alarms in the system.
  • VIs — You can use the Read Tag Alarms VI, the Alarms & Events VIs, and the Historical VIs to retrieve alarm and event data for displaying or for interacting with other VIs.
  • Distributed System Manager — You can use the Alarms and Events view in the Distributed System Manager to monitor alarms and events. To launch the System Manager from LabVIEW, select Tools»Distributed System Manager.
  • Historical Data Viewer — You can use the Historical Data Viewer, available in the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX), to create views of alarm and event data. You also can use the Historical Data Viewer to archive and export alarm and event data that has been logged to a Citadel database.
  • Alarm Printer I/O Server — You can use this I/O server to print alarm and event data to a line printer.
