Setting Up a Vernier Sensor to Acquire Biosignals (Biomedical Toolkit)

This tutorial provides basic instructions for how to set up a Vernier sensor with the NI ELVIS II Series Workstation.

After you connect the NI ELVIS II Series Workstation to your computer, you then connect the Vernier sensor to the NI ELVIS II Series Workstation according to the following steps:

On the Prototyping Board, connect the DC Power Supplies GROUND terminal to the (–) bus terminal and connect the DC Power Supplies +5V terminal to the (+) bus terminal. The following figure provides an example of this configuration.

Note Although you can connect the DC Power Supplies pins directly to the Vernier sensor pins, connecting them to the bus terminals enables you to connect more than four pins to each power supply, if needed. -
Connect the Vernier sensor to the Prototyping Board by using the Prototyping Board Connector. The following table lists which pins to wire from the Prototyping Board to the Prototyping Board Connector.
Prototyping Board Prototyping Board Connector GROUND DC Power Supply GND +5V DC Power Supply 5V AI 0+ SIG1 AI 0– GND The following figure provides an example of this configuration.
After you connect the Vernier sensor to the NI ELVIS II Series Workstation, you can select the AI 0 channel in the Biosignal Acquisition Express VI to acquire biosignals from the Vernier sensor.
