Creating a Template for Custom Properties

Use templates for custom properties so that DIAdem adds the associated custom property from the template when DIAdem loads new data into the Data Portal or creates new channel groups or channels. To create a template for channel custom properties complete the following steps:

1. Select one of the DIAdem panels.

2. Select Settings»DIAdem Settings to open the DIAdem Settings dialog box.

3. Enable Template for custom properties at the bottom of the dialog box.

4. Click Edit. DIAdem opens the Template for Custom Properties.

5. Select the Channel tab.

6. Click New Entry. DIAdem creates a new line in the overview.

7. Click the cell below Property.

8. Enter CarModel as the name.

9. Click the cell below Data Type.

10. Select the Text data type from the list.

11. Click the cell below Initial Value.

12. Enter the text MyCar.

13. Click OK to close the dialog boxes.

14. Open the DIAdem NAVIGATOR.

15. Click Delete Internal Data on the toolbar.

16. Select a file in the file browser.

17. Drag and drop the file into the Data Portal.

18. Select one channel in the Data Portal.

19. Scroll down in the properties display of the Data Portal. DIAdem has generated the new custom property CarModel for every channel.
