Sorting Channels and Groups in the Data Portal

Use alphabetical sorting to sort groups and channels in the Data Portal. In the local toolbar of the Data Portal, click Sort Alphabetically in Ascending Order or Sort Alphabetically in Descending Order. DIAdem sorts groups or channels according to the parent element or elements you selected in the Data Portal:

• To sort all channel groups in ascending or descending order by group name, select either the root element or no element in the Data Portal and click one of the two sort buttons. DIAdem does not modify the channel order during the sort.

• To sort channels in a group in ascending or descending order by channel name, select the one or more channel groups and click one of the two sort buttons.

  If the DIAdem Settings»NAVIGATOR»Use xy-channel references when loading, saving, and creating channels setting is enabled and the first channel is the only x-channel in the channel group to which all other channels in the channel group refer as y-channels, DIAdem does not include the first channel in the sort. The first channel remains in the first position.

  If the setting DIAdem Settings»NAVIGATOR»Use xy-channel references when loading, saving, and creating channels is not enabled, DIAdem sorts all channels alphabetically in ascending or descending order.

Sorting is the same as in File Explorer: Special characters are listed at the top, followed by all basic letters - regardless of whether they are upper or lower case - and all other Unicode characters are listed at the bottom. DIAdem assigns umlauts and accents to the corresponding basic letters. When sorting numbers, DIAdem applies the order of an outline: a1, a10, a11, a2, etc.

In the List view of the Data Portal, you can sort all channels in ascending and descending order using the buttons next to the column headings.
