Select Data Link Dialog Box
Click Select Data Link in the Edit Step dialog boxes for the Database step types, such as the Data Link tab of the Edit Open Database dialog box, to launch the Select Data Link dialog box.
When you edit a Database step, the Edit Step dialog box might require access to the database in order to display a list of available tables in the database or a list of columns in a table. With TestStand, you can define a set of data links you can reuse whenever you edit a Database step. A data link typically includes a name of a server, a name of a database, a user ID, and a password. You can predefine a data link to speed up the development whenever you edit a Database step.
The Select Data Link dialog box lists the currently defined data links. When you select a data link, TestStand attempts to open a connection to the data source. When TestStand successfully opens the data link, TestStand leaves the connection open for later use.
The Select Data Link dialog box contains the following options:
- New or Edit —Launches the Edit Data Link dialog box, in which you can create new data links or edit existing data links.
- Remove —Deletes the currently selected data link for the list.
- View —Launches the Database Viewer application and opens the connection string within the viewer.
- Selected Data Link is Open —Indicates whether a connection is open for the currently selected data link. You can manually close an open connection by disabling the control while the data link is selected.
