Launch the Configuration Utility from the Windows Start Menu or by double-clicking the program file. The main window opens and the Configuration Utility automatically loads the current configuration.

The Configuration Utility uses a single window with a three-column working area. A menu bar is located at the top, the working directory is shown as a clickable bar beneath it, and a status bar is located at the bottom. You can drag the dividers between columns to resize them.
Table 35. Parts of the RTG Configuration Utility
Area Purpose
Files (left column) Lists the configuration files in the working directory.
Sections (middle column) Shows the tree of sections in the selected file, including instruments, coprocessors, and attenuators.
Editor (right column) Shows the editable fields for the selected section, plus the file description.
Working directory bar Shows the current folder; click to choose a different folder.
Status bar Shows the result of the last action.

If no default configuration file exists when the Configuration Utility runs for the first time, the utility creates a minimal file at the default location and selects it. If the default file points to another file through redirection, the Configuration Utility opens that file instead and shows its folder in the file list.
