Common List Mode Utility Options and Behaviors

The List Mode Utility includes the following common options and behaviors.

Targets Per Line

Every line in a file must use the same number of targets. The first data line sets the count for the whole file. Targets/Line is available in both Convert and Create Template modes.

The default value is 4. If you change the value, the change persists for the rest of the session. When you close and reopen the List Mode Utility, the default returns to 4.

Column Headers and Comments

Column Headers add a labeled header row to the output file so each field is easy to identify. Comments includes a comment block at the top of the file.

Opening Files After an Operation

There are two ways to open a file you have just created or converted:

This option starts unchecked each time you launch the List Mode Utility and stays as you set it for the rest of the session.
  • Open File button in the console. This appears after any successful operation and is always available for one-off use, regardless of the checkbox.

Console

The console along the bottom of the window is always visible. It shows status messages, validation results, and error details. No important information is hidden behind pop-up dialogs. The console provides Copy and Save buttons for exporting its contents.

Resetting the Workspace

You can return to the empty Landing state in two ways. Either of the following actions clears the console and resets all fields:
  • Click X in the header of the File Loaded or Create Template view
  • Drag and drop or browse a new file, which replaces the current one
