Creating Status Bars

Create a fixed pane in a front panel to display status about a VI. Add controls to the status bar to define the status you want to display.
When you separate a front panel by creating a status bar, you can add objects to the other pane without affecting the status bar.
This procedure describes adding a status bar to the bottom pane of a front panel.
To create a status bar using a splitter bar, complete the following steps.
- Create a new VI or open an existing one.
- Right-click the front panel to open the Controls palette.
- Select a design palette and select .

Add the splitter bar to the front panel window near the bottom of the pane.
As you drag the splitter bar to the position you want, a dashed line indicates the position of the splitter bar on the pane. If the dashed line is red, the alignment grid is enabled.When you click to place the splitter bar, the splitter bar creates two scrollable panes in the front panel window.
- Use to Controls palette to add the controls you want to use to the status bar in the lower pane.
- Right-click the border of the splitter bar and select Locked and from the shortcut menu.

Turn off scroll bars in the lower pane, right-click the splitter bar and select the
following options from the shortcut menu:
- Right-click the splitter bar and select .
- Right-click the splitter bar and select .
Note You can display the scroll bars again by opening the shortcut menus again and selecting Always On.
